ADVANCEMENT

NSCC Sea Cadets advance in rank through the following

Sea Cadet ranks follow the same path as the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard, from E-1 (Seaman Recruit) through E-7 (Chief Petty Officer). All cadets must take Navy correspondence courses and pass Navy examinations to gain rank. Cadets must serve a minimum time in each rank before moving to the next higher rank. All new Sea Cadets enter the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) as an E-1 (Seaman Recruit); detailed requirements and links to required advancement courses, are posted at Homeport and are summarized below.

NLCC League Cadets advance in rank through the following

1. Completion of required coursework.
2. Completion of the minimum number of community service hours.
3. Meeting required time in rate.
*Note that completion of a training evolution is not a requirement for advancement in the NLCC. However, if a Leaguer wants to attend an NLCC Advanced Training, Basic Orientation must be completed.
